Celestial Pattern Candle Holder

The Celestial Pattern Candle Holder is a piece of functional magic. By day, it is a beautifully formed ceramic vessel decorated with a repeating pattern of stars, moons, and celestial bodies pierced through the clay walls. By candlelight, it becomes something else entirely: a miniature planetarium that casts patterns of light and shadow across every surface of the room, transforming an ordinary evening into something that feels quietly enchanted.

The piercing technique requires the clay to be worked at a precise stage of drying — soft enough to cut cleanly without cracking, dry enough to hold its shape without distorting under the pressure of the cutting tools. Each hole is cut individually with a small cylindrical punch or a sharp knife, and the pattern is laid out by hand, ensuring that even in the areas of greatest density the structural integrity of the clay wall is maintained. After piercing, the piece is dried slowly to prevent cracking and then bisque-fired before glazing and glaze firing.

The glaze is a deep, lustrous navy — a colour that by day provides a rich, jewel-like ground for the pierced pattern and by candlelight appears almost black, making the lit holes appear to float in darkness like stars in a night sky. The interior is unglazed, allowing the warm glow of the candle to radiate through the holes with maximum warmth and brightness.

The holder is designed for a standard tea light candle and has a base diameter of 10cm and a height of 12cm. It is not suitable for open-flame taper candles. The ceramic body is completely fire-safe and will not become hot to the touch during normal tea light use. It is dishwasher-safe (without candle) and makes a beautiful gift for anyone who loves to create atmosphere in their home.
